Fort Wayne vs Phoenix

by Brad on February 21, 2010

I’ve always wondered what Fort Wayne’s area is versus Phoenix’s area. So, being the whiz that I is, I quickly photoshopped a google map of Fort Wayne over a google map of Phoenix and emphasized the outline of I-69 and I-469. When it comes down to it, the east valley of Phoenix (Mesa, Gilbert, Chandler) is about the size of all of Fort Wayne.

It’s probably not interesting to many of you out there – but, I don’t really care to entertain you anyway …

Vegetarian In The New Year

by Brad on January 1, 2010

Happy 2010!

In this new year and new decade, Stacey and I have decided to to be vegetarian for the first 31 days.  In true Brad-style, we’ve launched a blog detailing the recipes we’re using, reasoning for going veg and reviewing vegetarian and vegan products.  Check it out at www.vegadventure.com.

We had originally planned on starting this January 1, but as we researched more and became mutually disgusted by what we found in terms of the pathway to get meat on to our plates – we actually started December 30.  So, three days into it and we’re feeling pretty good about it.

I won’t detail it too much on this website – rather, we’ll talk about it mostly on vegadventure.com.

We also get a lot of questions from some people in regards to the “health” of Boston if we continue the vegetarian lifestyle or move in to a vegan lifestyle.  The best way I can sum it up:

When you go to a doctor and you have health issues, the doctor never says, “You really need to cut out fruits and vegetables from your diet.  They’re killing you.”  No, the doctor will always recommend removing red meat and eating less meat altogether.

Children who are raised vegetarian and/or vegan actually have lower incidences of being sick and less of a chance fo disease later in life – not to mention they are healthier and skinnier.

The American diet is full of meat.  We’re raised to believe that if there’s not meat in the meal then it’s not a complete meal.  Bullshit.  Yes, bullshit.  In the three days I’ve been eating vegetarian – which makes me far from an expert in any way, shape or form – it’s been interesting to figure out a meal without meat.  What we seem to end up with is extremely healthy meals full of flavor from vegetables we aren’t used to using and incorporating meat-alternative products like gardien buffalo chicken wings that we never would’ve thought of before.

Whether this continues past January 31, 2010 or not, we know this month will be a great experience to really analyze what we are putting in to our bodies.  Cheer to 2010!

Our Gift To One Needy Child

December 25, 2009

Stacey and I thought that this year – and hopefully more so in the years to follow – we’d help the less fortunate of the world.  It’s too often in this world that we can tend to get down on ourselves … “I’m not successful enough.”  ”My life sucks.”  ”I wish I could buy more [...]

Vintage Boston

December 17, 2009

I am trying to learn more with Photoshop – for both the manipulation of photos and to create graphics for websites.
Here’s a before and after of a great photo I took of Boston playing on the playground.  I gave it a ‘vintage’ look.
After:

And before:

Yes, I know you are all interested and you know that I [...]

SIRIUS Radio Customer Care Is Horrible And Here’s My Email To Prove It

December 17, 2009

I’ve written about companies I love before or at least mentioned them – Southwest Airlines and Apple are probably my two favorite in terms of a good customer experience.  SIRIUS/XM Radio Customer Care – not so much.
Here’s a copy of an email I sent to SIRIUS Radio Customer Care today in regards to their customer [...]

Photo Page Added

December 14, 2009

We’ve added a photo page to our blog.  The beauty of it would be that it syncs with my facebook account so I don’t have to do anything after I upload them from iPhoto on my MacBook.  Glorious.
It can be accessed simply by clicking on the ‘Photos’ link on the right hand-side of the page [...]

Age: 32 – By This Time Next Year

December 13, 2009

Holy crap. I’m 31.  I’m officially past the age where people joke that they are constantly ‘29′ or ‘30′ forever.  If you double my age I’d be 62 and eligible for retirement in some companies.  Nards!
Last year, at age 30, it was slightly exciting – leaving a decade of life and starting a new one. [...]

Anyone Vegan Out There?

December 11, 2009

Really?  Turkeys can NOT sexually reproduce anymore?  That caught me off guard …
Do you ever have things that cross your mind like, “Hmm, maybe I should try that.”
Stacey and I go back and forth about being vegetarian, or trying it.  Or being vegan, even.  Not because we don’t love meat … because trust me, I [...]
