Happy 2010!
In this new year and new decade, Stacey and I have decided to to be vegetarian for the first 31 days. In true Brad-style, we’ve launched a blog detailing the recipes we’re using, reasoning for going veg and reviewing vegetarian and vegan products. Check it out at www.vegadventure.com.
We had originally planned on starting this January 1, but as we researched more and became mutually disgusted by what we found in terms of the pathway to get meat on to our plates – we actually started December 30. So, three days into it and we’re feeling pretty good about it.
I won’t detail it too much on this website – rather, we’ll talk about it mostly on vegadventure.com.
We also get a lot of questions from some people in regards to the “health” of Boston if we continue the vegetarian lifestyle or move in to a vegan lifestyle. The best way I can sum it up:
When you go to a doctor and you have health issues, the doctor never says, “You really need to cut out fruits and vegetables from your diet. They’re killing you.” No, the doctor will always recommend removing red meat and eating less meat altogether.
Children who are raised vegetarian and/or vegan actually have lower incidences of being sick and less of a chance fo disease later in life – not to mention they are healthier and skinnier.
The American diet is full of meat. We’re raised to believe that if there’s not meat in the meal then it’s not a complete meal. Bullshit. Yes, bullshit. In the three days I’ve been eating vegetarian – which makes me far from an expert in any way, shape or form – it’s been interesting to figure out a meal without meat. What we seem to end up with is extremely healthy meals full of flavor from vegetables we aren’t used to using and incorporating meat-alternative products like gardien buffalo chicken wings that we never would’ve thought of before.
Whether this continues past January 31, 2010 or not, we know this month will be a great experience to really analyze what we are putting in to our bodies. Cheer to 2010!

I can’t imagined my life without vegetable! Its very awful. There’s a lot of alternative way to make your food taste meat like even it is not.
